The Livelihood Training Centre is Yayasan Holi'ana'a's working, 3-hectare sustainable agriculture demonstration farm, located to the south of Gunungsitoli.

The LTC runs regular programs training farmers in organic agriculture and also hosts high-school permaculture students who live onsite for three months to learn farming techniques as well as climate change adaptation, team building and independent living. Since the LTC opened in 2012, thousands of students and farmers have lived and learned at this unique facility, which includes extensive vegetable gardens, orchards, a rice paddy, catfish pond, as well as cattle, chickens and pigs.

Our specialist trainers have extensive experience with sustainable agricultural frameworks, such as organic farming methods, SRI rice and secondary crop cultivation, as well as small business and leadership skills, helping to produce a new generation of local leaders.

The majority of our LTC program participants are female farmers who are eager to learn gardening to provide an alternative income source besides rubber, coconut or pig farming. YH research and monitoring has found that the program has a significant impact in securing family income and increasing the economic independence of the women who take part in our projects.
